23 OCT 2013 Sania Mirza in Top 10 of World Women’s Doubles Rankings

Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza came into the top 10 of the world women's doubles by gaining two spots to ninth place in the latest WTA Team Rankings issued on 21 October 2013.

Sania Mirza jumped from 11th spot to 9th spot. The 26-year-old Sania moved up as a result of other players dropping points.

Sania Mirza had won back-to-back titles as she lifted the China Open trophy, followed by another triumph in Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo in the month of October 2013. Her partner Cara Black of Zimbabwe too gained a position to be at number 13.

Italians Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci hold on to the joint number one ranking, while Su-Wei Hseih climbed two spots to number four and Katrina Srebotnik moved one spot higher to number three.

Sania Mirza (born 15 November 1986) is a professional Indian tennis player from Hyderabad. She is the first ever Indian to break into the top 30 WTA rankings in singles and top 10 in doubles.  Sania Mirza has won one WTA singles title so far, at Hyderabad in 2005. She also won 19 WTA doubles titles so far.

22 OCt 2013 Dipika Pallikal Won Macau Open Squash Title 2013

India's ace Squash player Dipika Pallikal on 20 October 2013 won the Macau Open title at Macau, China.
In the title clash Dipika stunned former World Number One Rachel Grinham of Australia, 12-10, 5-11, 11-7, 11-9. This was Dipika Pallikal's seventh Women's Squash Association title. 

The Macau Open 2013 is a squash tournament held in Macau, China on 15 to 20 October 2013. It is part of the PSA World Tour and the WSA World Tour. The prize money for the Macau Open is 35000 Dollars.

• Dipika Pallikal (Born on 21 September 1991 at Chennai) is an Indian squash player. She is the first Indian woman to break into the top 10 in the WSA rankings.
 
• She is also first squash player to receive prestigious Arjuna Award from Government of India.

• Her first WSA World Tour title came in 2010 at the Indian Challenger No5 as she beat the top two Sharon Wee and Emma Beddoes.  

• In 2013 Pallikal claimed the Meadowood Pharmacy Open title in Canada in February for her sixth WSA title.

• Dipika Pallikal’s present world rank is 17 (Dated 21 October 2013). Highest World Ranking:10 (December 2012)

21 OCT 2013 Jorge Lorenzo won Australian Grand Prix 2013

Jorge Lorenzo won the Australian Grand Prix on 20 October 2013 at the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix in Phillip Island. The strong contender Marc Marquez was disqualified for delaying a compulsory pit stop. Lorenzo of Yamaha, won a race shortened to 19 laps by 6.9 seconds from Honda’s Dani Pedrosa and veteran Valentino Rossi.

Compulsory bike changes were required for the first time in Motor GP history in the race. It was reduced from 27 to 19 laps because of safety concerns over the tires on the resurfaced Phillip Island circuit.

18-OCT-2013 Manipur Defeated Haryana to Lift 54th Subroto Cup Football Tournament

 The Subroto Cup Football Tournament is primarily an inter-school football tournament in India, which is named after Indian Air Force Air Marshal Subroto Mukerjee. The tournament was started in the year 1960 and since then, it is conducted every year. Manipur won against 

Government Senior Secondary School, Alakhpura, Bhiwani (Haryana) by six goals to four. It is the second time that the Manipur team lifted the Girls’ title of Subroto Cup football tournament.

In the meanwhile, in Under-17 Boys' category, Magurmari High School, Kokrajhar (Assam) edged out Reverend Saiathanga Memorial (Mizoram) to enter in the final. The winners won by a One-Nil margin.

In the Girls’ final match, the match was taken to the penalty shoot-out, where Ratanbala, D Grace, Ranjana Chanu, Ranjibala Devi, Sunita Devi scored for Manipur and Sanju, Munesh and Nisha scored for Haryana.
